Sketchbook Magic:

Mark Making

AN EXPERIMENTAL, PLAYFUL, ONLINE ART CLASS TO HELP YOU EXPLORE MARK MAKING IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK AND ART

This class is about giving you ideas and techniques to explore mark making in your sketchbook.

We’ll be drawing, using watercolour and exploring different ways to develop your own personal approach to mark making.

A sketchbook is a brilliant place to experiment, gather and curate a library of your own marks and a place to find out the types of marks you love to make. A sketchbook is both a playground and a safe gathering place…it’s where you can meet yourself as a artist and let your own vocabulary of marks unfurl and evolve.

If you’re looking for some new art processes to help you develop your own personal approach to mark making, gestures and lines then this class is just for you.

HERE’S EXACTLY WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS ONLINE CLASS:

In this class we’ll explore how a variety of artists have used mark making and we’ll use two very different playful experimental exercises to develop our own sketchbook pages imbued with personal marks.

We’ll be drawing, mark making, using watercolour and I will share oodles of inspiration and ideas from my personal sketchbooks. I’ll share the processes I use in my own art practice and sketchbook.

This one hour video class (56 minutes) is packed full of tips, demonstrations and insight to help you develop a sketchbook practice which feels exciting, interesting and personal. This is a bite-sized wisdom-packed class to help you develop and enjoy your own sketchbook practice.

  • An introduction to mark making and why it is important

  • Exploration of a variety of artists who have an interesting approach to mark making

  • Two demonstrations of how exactly to go about creating sketchbook pages from start to finish

  • Mark making techniques and ways to develop pages which explore and showcase marks
